My favourite coffee shops in Toulouse

Coffee-shops-toulouse

The coffee shop scene in Toulouse has exploded in recent years. For me, it makes the city the perfect South of France destination: full of local atmosphere and its own personality, with a cool, modern touch on top. Many coffee shops have opened over the past few years, and some of them are particularly special. Here are my favourites, and why I think you should discover them.

Mesopotamia Coffee

Opened in June 2026 in Arnaud Bernard, Mesopotamia Coffee serves excellent specialty coffee in a neighbourhood that is up and coming and has been completely refurbished in recent years. The place is tiny, just 30 m², and it carries a real story. It is run by Ninmar Abraham, who arrived in Toulouse from Syria in 2014. His idea was to build a bridge between the culture he comes from and the city that became his second home, through family recipes and a warm welcome. I love the story behind the place, and I always feel at home here, whether I’m stopping by for a coffee, a chat or a work session.

Peanut

Peanut needs no introduction. It has been a must-visit since opening in 2025. Ideally located on rue Gambetta, it has a minimalist design that I love, and the food is entirely homemade: generous pastries, cookies, babkas and creative drinks, including a pistachio and orange blossom latte. The meals are as generous as they are gorgeous. It’s Instagram friendly, of course, but also just really nice.

Cerise

Cerise is an absolute must-visit, and its location is a big part of the charm. Right on the quai de la Daurade, it has a perfect view over the Garonne, and it’s the ideal place to take a break and soak up the sun in the afternoon. Opened in 2015 by Valentin and Stéphanie, it was one of the pioneers of the city’s specialty coffee scene, and it now roasts its own coffee.

Copola

Copola is a specialty coffee shop on the calmer side of Saint-Cyprien, facing the Dôme de la Grave. It opened in 2025 and comes from the team behind the Toulouse roaster Hayuco. It’s spacious and bright, with raw concrete, terrazzo and big windows looking onto the Garonne. That minimalist, hipster touch was unexpected, and it is a very welcome addition to Toulouse. It’s a lovely spot when you want a quieter coffee away from the buzz.

Minifundi

Minifundi hardly needs presenting. It’s a Toulouse staple, located in Bonnefoy, another up-and-coming neighbourhood. It was opened by Hugo Matheu, who discovered specialty coffee in Melbourne and worked at Lomi in Paris. Inside a big industrial space with raw walls, a roasting machine fills the air with the smell of freshly roasted coffee. It’s a great excuse to explore a part of Toulouse you might not know yet.

La Fiancée

La Fiancée has been here from the very beginning. Opened in 2012, it was the pioneer of specialty coffee in Toulouse, founded by two friends who discovered their love of coffee in New York. It has been serving London-style brunches long before they became a trend in the city, and it’s still one of the places I recommend first when someone wants a proper brunch.
